A stylish antique Victorian old cut diamond horse shoe pin set in gold and silver.
The brooch is formed of a gold and silver bugle horn, intertwined with a old cut diamond horse shoe. The piece is then secured to reverse with a long pin a clasp fitting. The brooch is in it's original unpolished condition, and has a lovely natural patina to it!
As well as other recognisable motifs such as the snake, the horseshoe featured heavily in Victorian era, particularly in jewellery! The symbol was regarded a symbol of good fortune, worn by royalty and aristocrats among this time.
For size reference, the brooch measures 4.9 centimetres in length and 1.3 centimetres in height (from the widest parts). There is an estimated total old cut diamond weight of 0.40 carats, ranging J-K in colour with SI clarity. Due to the age, the brooch is not hallmarked but has been tested for silver and 9k gold.
